Gotta love his defense, given the collection of names he has seems like a decently crafted lie.
Decently crafted? Would anyone be fooled by it? I think you mean that it was humorously crafted, and if so I agree. Notice that the book is about a "magical troll".
I think it's a pretty odd ruling, given he registered the domains before MS launched bing.
The best $10k either company could possibly spend would be buying that domain from the guy.
As per my other comment Microsoft won the complaint and is getting the domain back.
Not back, it's taking the domains the guy registered.
I would hope that Google wouldn't buy it. If someone has gone to the bother of tyoing wwwbing.com into their browser it means they wanted to go to www.bing.com. Effectively re-directing them to Google seems inappropriate to me. Google has enough good things going for it that it shouldn't need to get involved in petty actions like that.
And the "Don't be evil" motto.. I'm pretty sure that would be evil.
edit: i see now that ALL the urls are listed in that complaint down there. sorry about that.
Interestingly a lot of domain names point to Google without being owned by them. Seems mostly a way to generate rumours.
who cares?
