How does WhatsApp EE helps consumer?

I have a basic question. Facebook bought WhatsApp for $22b. thats a LOT of money. and No Ads in it. If they are not using all the chat history to know consumer behavior and sell ads on facebook and future WhatsApp where it becomes like WeChat, how does EE guarantees consumer privacy?!
