Google did not claim they were aware of active exploitation of the Apple vulnerability whereas for this Windows one, they claim knowledge of it being exploited actively.

They have done the same for Microsoft, extending the 90-day deadline multiple times.

Why they didn't in this specific instance is probably because it was being actively exploited in the wild, but that's just a guess.

Was that Apple vulnerability actively exploited in the wild during the delay?

That was a design error, this is presumably a simple bug fix. It's also being actively exploited.
