Does it make you a defender of the liberal west to take in so many foreign refugees (without the necessary resources for cultural and economic assimilation) that your citizens revolt and move to far right nationalist parties? Because that is what's likely to happen in Germany and France, largely thanks to Merkel. I believe she had good intentions but the outcome could be disastrous.

The NYT, which got this entire election wrong, is now telling us more about this election.

Former NYT writer says, "It was a shock on arriving at the New York Times in 2004, as the paper’s movie editor, to realize that its editorial dynamic was essentially the reverse. By and large, talented reporters scrambled to match stories with what internally was often called “the narrative.” We were occasionally asked to map a narrative for our various beats a year in advance, square the plan with editors, then generate stories that fit the pre-designated line." And Hollande, Merkel is center right, is that what a liberal is? Germany is just a moral society.

Trudeau in Canada has a pretty good claim to that, too:

I might have moved there years ago, but it's uninhabitably cold and/or wet.
