Ever use ranger?

Of course, not exactly comparable, but it's pretty amazing.

Oh, this looks interesting! I've never really tried out terminal-based file managers, but I could see myself using something like this. I'd definitely need to spend some time getting used to it though, not to mention learning how to do various things (show hidden files, etc.)

You, and others, might also find 'vimv' to be very useful ... it's not a file manager as you think of one, but it's very powerful.

Your pwd opens up in vi and you can edit it as you see fit. When you :wq! all of the filename changes you have made get written to the directory.
