If it needs 200 lines and they have to write it on paper, of course it doesn't compile.
Automata is a 60 minute test taken in a compiler integrated environment.
So not written on paper.
But it doesn't explain if the test user was able to use a compiler to check his syntax or man pages to check for lib calls.
My guess is that it was a better whiteboard test, which usually fails to compile on the first writeup.
I just want to observe that these prompts are in broken typo-riddled English, with misformatted code.
Does anyone know of equivalent studies done elsewhere? I’d like to think the percentages would be higher from my peers at graduation, but I suspect they’d be much lower than I’d hope.
