To me, Erlang syntax is odd and a put off. However, I am digging Elixir and diving into Erlang when need be for OTP functionality not yet wrapped by Elixir.

Most probably because of a lack of functional programming mindset.

How very odd. That's one language I found intuitive.

Yeah, me too. It's an interesting thing. The C syntax and imperative mindset is hard for a lot of people to get. Especially if they're not motivated by the effort.
