The old addage.. "If you can't beat them then join them" becomes more true to me everyday as I get older. Accumulate wealth and "escape" the system.

Honest question: Do you have children? I used to feel as you do, but now that I have children, it's a lot less easy to check out on things.

I do not not, but I am not sure my perspective would change though the motives might... Accumulate wealth so my kids lives don't suck. It's going to be even harder for them in the future.

Having children rarely contributes positively to the "accumulate wealth" goal.

One has to wonder at the reasoning of a person who complains that the world sucks and decides that the solution is to make it suckier for their own benefit.

If you live in a dump why not litter?

I'd have no problem with "political litter" in the state I currently reside because it's a corrupt, mismanaged dump.

If I moved back to where I used to live I'd care.

> If you live in a dump why not litter?

How do you think it got to be such a dump?

Social acceptance of corruption and mismanagement

It's essentially the "betray" outcome of the prisoner's dilemma from game theory.

You actually cannot escape it, no matter how deep you bury your head in the sand.

buy gun. buy land. build cabin. read? write?

would that work for some time?

It could work. It could work better if you're in a tight community of like-minded people and are able to build families.

That’s not an option for most people and it only goes so far. Climate change affects the entire planet. Disease, crime, and unrest are hard to escape and wealth increases your risk of becoming a target for the latter two.

Only the very richest approach any sort of 'escape' from the system and that's really only with regard to the laws of human society.

That's why they're desperate to 'solve' aging.

If the very richest were desperate to solve aging, SENS would have no need of further funds.

JME is not even close to very rich, yet he's done pretty well at escaping the system. http://adventurebuilders.club/
