Is this article appropriate for hacker news? Keeping in mind that to be on topic means: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity. I know that the guideline is generic, but I am seeing more and more articles that encourage emotional distress rather than entice intellectual curiosity.

I agree as well. MS13 is certainly an issue, but it's being leveraged to sell a broader agenda about immigration. Not a fan of hacker news being pulled into that fray.
