What Happened When I Tracked My Boyfriend on Strava

While perhaps not an issue unique to Strava, this is a fascinating look at the story our data tells about us. We think of Facebook using their massive data gathering apparatus to build profiles of people for ad targeting.

But even a more simple data point, where you are and who you're with, over a period of time reveals an enormous amount about our lives, and has can have large implications offline.

Technology had practically no role to play here. Without Strava the outcome would have been the same only she would have been oblivious about it until he left her. Not sure why this is a Wired article or on HN front page.

We're still humans and Strava isn't at fault in this tale that's as old as time.
