Ask HN: I've been a developer and a PC Techie: Where can I go from here?

So, a bit of context: in college, I worked 3 years as a student PC technician, and I've worked 2.5 up to the present as a software developer (Java/Spring Web Dev).

I'm very enthusiastic about computers, both hardware and software, but haven't decided on a good way to incorporate both in my professional work.

I enjoyed the PC tech job more than being a developer, so should I just transition into a full blown sysadmin role w/ software knowledge as a bonus? If so, are there any recommended programming languages I could study?
