Ask HN: News source for general World news?

Loosely based on recent Hacker News top story about "stop reading the news" and based on my recent thoughts about paying for a single news site, to get good broad news on the World.

If you should choose only 1 source for general World news. Which site would you recommend? Free or payed does not matter.
