How to Be a Good Program Manager?

Was just selected by a new company to come in as a Program Manager. I've been doing project management, albeit more via self taught and experience driven for a while, though I was never one to subscribe exclusively to standards such as those offered by PMI. Are there any words of wisdom or advice for someone like me as I begin to lead a DevOps shop, Infrastructure cell, tier 1, 2, and 3 Help Desk, etc?
