A Physics Myth: That Projectiles Make a Parabola

All of physics is simplifications. Calling one model a myth while relying on other simplifications (no friction, Newtonian physics) seems like clickbait to me.

It is not a myth but a known model approximation. The effect of ignoring external forces (friction etc) is much larger than this model approximation.

Interesting, but I wouldn't really call it a myth.

It feels like quite a nitpick to say that zero air resistance is a valid simplification and that the gravity field can be assumed to be unidirectional and constant is not a valid simplification. Certainly when I was taught this I was aware we were making a bunch of assumptions that weren't exactly true.

Oh and don't forget the fact that the earth is also spinning (not to mention orbiting the Sun) at the same time as it is not being flat. It's all very complicated to be sure.
