There was a story this morning covering security issues with the Dropbox mobile apps for Android & iPhone, demonstrating that these apps send file metadata over unsecured HTTP.

Why was this story killed? I'm legitimately curious as it didn't seem like flamebait.

It would be great if someone who flagged the submission provided an explanation as none of the comments seemed to raise a particular issue. You'll be doing us all a favour before some sort of HN-gate is ignited. I did see a few emotionally-charged comments against Dropbox.

Agreed. I pointed out a comment from the original link and was hoping someone would run the iphone client and report on the results. Was quite surprised to see the story killed.
