Part of why I try to avoid SAYING I told you so, or even giving smug looks. IME you don't have to say anything and if you don't rub it in but keep quietly trying to be correct, you can start to make headway.
Does "I told you so" ever work in any situation? It only ever makes people mad. Unfortunately being right can't be pointed out in many situations.
