The integration of tall title bars with toolbars is really reminding me of Gnome 3 here.

Yep, getting real gnome 3 vibes from it. Compare their mailing app image to geary[1]. Even though they're browner I kind of prefer gnome's toolbar because they're more obviously interactive. I guess it's not such a big problem is you use iOS maybe, but I don't.

For all the flak that the GtkHeaderBar control got - at least a button looks like a button in the standard Adwaita theme.

It looks so much like Gnome that I was honestly surprised.

The new header bars and merged controls are almost exact matches... I wonder if they'll contribute anything back upstream

we could only wish that

What would they contribute from that?

I'd pay for a well engineered macOS 11 theme for GNOME. Perhaps when GTK4 is out end of this year with support for blurred transparency shaders. Though I got to say Adwaita improved a lot recently.

I’d pay for a decent macOS keybinding theme for gnome, any price. Who gives a damn about the look, app marketers?

Heck, figure out how to let me use macOS keybindings on Windows and I'll give you a medal. The need to use (non-idiomatic, clumsy) Windows shortcuts on my MBP's keyboard is the reason I don't use Boot Camp.

autohokey is your friend

Sadly, auto hot key does not allow rebinding the native toolkits keybinding schemes, at least not without per-app significant effort or removing things like readline bindings.

I don't have the link on hand but I saw a project recently where someone did this. Themes have been around but this guy did keyboard shortcuts and a few other tweaks all packaged up.

What's a macOS keybinding theme? I'm curious as the macOS workflow is totally alien to me.

Well, you start with the meta key.

Oh wow, I was skeptical but that definitely seems like an improvement.

elementaryOS is probably pretty close already...

If only it were not based on ubuntu or debian, I'd use it. Not a fan of either.
