"City" is a strong term, there is suburban sprawl between them, but it's not all urban. Huge USMC base in between as well.

They still feel a world apart, though I expect that to change over the next 20 years.

That’s a good way to put it. The two cities just have a very different feel to them.

It’s a 2 hour drive minimum between the two... If they are one big mega-city then Sacramento is part of the bay area.
