As avery42 already mentioned, this is intended to be used on your own self hosted mastodon server. I have used my own off and on, and for admins, it actually has pretty powerful moderation tools.

So the author is proposing tooting a link to the blog post article, and the leveraging your server’s REST endpoints to retrieve the comments.

This actually seems quite powerful, and elegant to me. If you run your own server, this could be a very nice & simple solution.

Yeah, fortunately for the moment I didn't receive any comments that I needed to remove. If you self host your mastodon server, it should be easy to remove comments but if you don't you basically have two choices: Report them and hope your admin remove them or filter them out with the small js script.

If you point the comments to be fetched from an instance you host, I assume you could silence/suspend users or domains on your instance and they would no longer show up in the comments (although that's probably not an ideal solution for most cases).
