IPhone12 will stop your implantable defibrillator

Implantable defibrillators are designed to be stopped by a magnet. This is a critical safety mechanism to stop a defibrillator that continues to fire inappropriate shocks. Any emergency department will have a special magnet just for this purpose. If anything it’s kinda cool that the iPhone can achieve this.

It's important to know about though so you don't toss it in your shirt pocket

Any magnet close to your pacemaker or other implant will stop it. That's how they're supposed to (not) work.

The reed switch is specifically placed there to react to magnet as it is quick and easily available way of interrupting the device without necessitating any special interface.
