One thing I don't see mentioned is the class action lawsuits that will be incoming for unsafe working environments.

I haven't gotten the flu once last year, yet in open offices I got it like clockwork at the end of fall and at the start of spring.

If covid is dangerous enough to lock down society yet is only x5 as deadly as bad flu seasons open offices are literal murder.

Did you really get the flu twice a year like clockwork? That must put you in like the top 0.01% of flu-getters; you have my sympathy.

A lot of people refer to the common cold and flu interchangeably, but they're very different, and it's usually just a cold.

I used to do this, and then I got the flu.

I was unable to function for 2-3 days (as in, I would fall asleep if I attempted to read a book) and was pretty rough for a week after.

Flu != cold.

You probably weren’t getting the flu even once every few years - common colds are pretty miserable on their own. Many people have never actually had influenza. It is really, really terrible and will make many people essentially non functional for a week or more, with high fever, crippling body aches, etc.

Sinus congestion and feeling out of it for a week is not the flu.

Flu is only deadly for a very small segment of society, though.

As is Covid.

Ah, well, I'm not exactly a proponent of lockdown in the first place, but the big difference is Covid spreads faster. it's already a social norm to stay away from grandparents when the flu rolls around.

While I'm sure open offices don't help in being exposed to flu, it could also just be because people are more careful these days with the hand sanitizers and mask wearing.

It's hard to get sick from my coworkers when I have literally not been face to face with them in months.
