The authors have actually said that they look at the books as duologies, rather than trilogies (except for the last three). They're also planning to collect all the novellas / short stories into one volume at some point.

I think of them as trilogies. Pre-ring (1-3), post-ring (4-6), and Laconia trilogies (7-9).

Good to know! Kind of crazy they work as trilogies, too. (or maybe I'm just seeing things that aren't there).

I always thought about them as trilogies, so you're not the only person.
