Hacker News Reader

I can't highlight anything with my mouse on the site. I obsessively highlight passages when I am reading on a web page.

Why would they block that?

I suspect this might be some crude attempt at blocking copy and paste, but maybe I'm wrong.

Yup. Can't right click, highlight, anything. For something targeted at developers, I wonder why anyone would waste their time. Anyone with basic knowledge of webdev could rip the entire site if they wanted to.

They also block middle mouse button clicks, preventing me from smoothly panning down the page.

At least with Firefox, "Reader View" appears to circumvent this restriction.
