Mighty's master plan to reignite the future of desktop computing

So run the browser on bigger hardware/better connection, and stream it down to the low-end desktop.

That smells kinda like Opera Mini back in the days, and how it was so much better than the pack-in browser of a Blackberry 7000-series: you could actually render a web page that looked more or less like it did on a desktop.

> When we first started Mighty, our plan was to stream Microsoft Windows. But after talking to users we learned that they were using their browser most of the time and what they really needed was a faster browser

I'm at the opposite side of this, wish they streamed Windows or macOS. Nothing that I personally run in the browser is ever slow (at least not because of local hardware resources), but desktop apps like Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Houdini, Cinema 4D, Blender are slow all the time (on my MacBook Pro). I guess I'm in the minority, but I'd love pay to make those apps faster instead.

+1 agree, especially for video editor + rendering

At least I now think I understand what they are trying to do. I personally don't have that many problems running Chrome on my laptop the traditional way though.

Not everyone has a 100 mb connection, I'd say it's in the minority. I live in a suburban community within five miles of a top 100 university and I've been trying to get a fiber connection for fifteen years. Two fiber bundles run within fifty yards yet I cannot access them.

Over 60% of the US population does growing every day.

The problem here is similar to Netflix & a lot of other SaaS's billing as opposed to the functionality they provide.

Mighty could have a sweet list of use cases but how do they justify month billing for every minute that you do not use it?

> When my MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM was only a year old, Chrome was killing my battery in under 2 hours

M1 + Safari
