Any free alternative to ArcGIS polygon simplification (like in the video)?

(I hope I understood the feature correctly. It’s hard to tell from watching the video on a small screen)

https://www.gpsbabel.org/htmldoc-development/filter_simplify... (C++, GPLv2 or later)

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/GPSBabel/Using_filters#S... mentions potlach (ActionScript, WTFPL) can do this, too.

Hey. I'm looking for a free polygon simplification tool similar to the one in the video. Is there any? My goal is to reduce the map size of a city in order to reduce the bandwidth needed.
