Ransomware: Maybe something good will come of it
Today I picked up a prescription from a pharamacy I had never used before. Their web site said they do deliveries, so I asked about that, but the clerk said they no longer do them. But they could mail a prescription to me, would I like that next time? I said sure, they asked for my address, and then wanted my credit card and driver's license. When I hesitated, she said "Oh, I see you don't have copays, so we don't need the credit card."
Me: Uh, why do you need my driver's license to mail a prescription? Clerk: (goes and asks someone, then) it's part of the signup form on the computer Me: nevermind, I'll pick it up again. I'm not giving you my driver's license to mail a prescription.
Now that all these companies are getting hacked and data exposed, maybe that will make them reconsider and just stop collecting information they don't need!
