Ask HN: Have you had trouble recruiting Clojure developers?

I tried to get Clojure jobs once, was turned away everywhere for lack of experience despite having used Lisp and variants fairly regularly since uni.

What sorts of companies were you applying to?

Any that used Clojure in NYC or remote.

Do you have more details? I would be interested in understanding this specific situation a little better - can you tell us a little more about what the job requirements are? What type of salary range?

I would guess that these days that Clojure isn't "popular" in a large sense so you have developers who would rather build their careers on more recognizable programming languages (java, javascript, c#, etc).

The second question is puzzling. Are you offering to train new hires on Clojure?

Yes, of course.

I'm not sure the "of course" part is warranted. Most places offer no real training.
