Ask HN: Google Play won't remove an illegal gambling app. What do I do?
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've found this illegal webview casino app that also breaks Google Play rules.
Here's how it works: You see an ad in Facebook, you click it, install and open the app. You see an illegal real money casino. The one that doesn't have a license to work in Ukraine (where I'm located). The app also breaks Play's rules regarding accepting direct payments, being marked as a real money casino game, restricting access from kids etc. Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST0P-Pzi3FI
When you install the app organically or visit from a banned IP, you just see a blank screen, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KcE1vAvmMw
You can also try using a VPN and an android emulator to make sure I'm not making this up. The app name is in the videos.
Now I have a number of gambling addicts among friends and I want to take this down, I've tried so far: 1. Flagging from android 2. Reporting illegal gambling to google play
Yet nothing happens. How do I go about removing it?
It's so strange how Apple is being sued in a class action lawsuit over social gaming apps, yet google won't act on actual criminal real-money ones.
