I used ubiquiti rocket M5 to go from my house (without internet) to my parents house (21km away). It works well (50mbit/s).

On a somewhat related note, is there something like this but for connecting to towers? I currently live in a (I suspect) pretty Faraday cagey house right now and been thinking of ways to get better signal strength.

Cellular service towers? Yes, "signal boosters" exist. Make sure you get a licensed one, and it will probably have to go into some register of radio transmitters. Hopefully the license is only a one-time cost.

Yes
