Hilariously the article doesn’t say why one should move applications to Java 17 at all! Just that it takes effort. The how is well covered though.

Because support matters to you, and Java 17 is the newest LTS release. (For particular apps, there may be an “ability to use newer features” reason, but for many “not using an out of support platform” will be the compelling reason.)

Because you can make good money by migrating the customers java project once each year.
