Docker compatible open source: Containerd nerdctl

It looks like a good drop-in replacement for docker?

“ Docker extracted its container runtime out into a new project, containerd. This includes Docker’s functionality for executing containers, handling low-level storage and managing image transfers. Containerd was donated to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) in order to provide the container community with a basis for creating new container solutions.”

from “What Is containerd, And How Does It Relate to Docker and Kubernetes” -https://www.cloudsavvyit.com/10075/what-is-containerd-and-ho...

Interesting, it's actually about exposing new containerd features more quickly, not about being a drop-in replacement for Docker Desktop. I'll be keeping an eye on it as a replacement for Docker Desktop on Mac anyway.

Thanks, I wasn’t thinking only about docker desktop, but also more specifically docker cli and compose (but now makes sense)

btw for mac there’s Containerd + Lima https://medium.com/nttlabs/containerd-and-lima-39e0b64d2a59

How does this compare to podman?
