Thanks! I thought I was having a false memory. Blind spot, I guess: I've been looking for it for at least a week.

You have been quite polite searching for a week.

Impolite question: what are you searching for ?

Slightly less impolite: what are you working on that you want HN's input on it ? Must be cool.

I had occasion to search HN history, on a couple of occasions in the past week. I tried DDG, but didn't get a result until I tried Goo - which I try hard to avoid. It was on page 3 of the result-set. I'd expect a site search to be better-focused.

I'm not working on anything. And I haven't literally been searching for an entire week. I've just ended up more than once in the past week trying to find the search UI, and giving up.

I'm grateful for someone picking up my lost front-door-keys for me. Perhaps I shouldn't go out without my carer :-)

Thanks for sharing,

The best search tool IMO is here: https://hn.algolia.com

There's a "Search:" field at the bottom of the page.

Ask HN: How does one search HN?
