The funny thing is that this professor doesn't even seem to be conservative. He might as well be a left-wing guy who doesn't believe in DEI.
Now a days, anyone who speaks out against identity politics gets labelled “insert label here”. I am brown but if I make a comment against identity politics on Reddit or somewhere where my skin color isn’t visible, I get called names. Just last month or so, someone on HN assumed I was white just because I was commenting about something against identity politics.
Even in person, I have gotten called “race traitor” because I don’t believe in judging people by their skin color and quite honestly, I find it highly patronizing that people expect me to go along with their narrative on how I must behave because of my skin color. Treating people as a perpetual victim damages them more.
If I am getting a heart surgery or getting taught mathematics, I don’t care about what skin color you are or what you do in your bedroom. I care about your skill set. The current DEI does the opposite. Also ironic that they claim to want “diversity” but that diversity is limited to skin color and gender. Diversity of opinion isn’t allowed.
Although honestly I don't even think the twitter-mob people are all left, let alone "more left". Bernie Sanders (to use an American example) is left. Those are just authoritarian moderates, as oxymoronic as it sounds.

Bernie wasn't "left". He was specifically there to fool people into voting for one side. He's got zero principles.
This is where we get into muddy waters. Lifting up those who've been denied for generations is not "judging people by their skin color", it more akin to "reparation" for denying so many for so long because of judging people by their skin color.
The cop out for that is "I've never done that", but that doesn't matter. It was done and the effects of it are still with us.
As a society we must make it right. If there were enough seats for anyone who wanted to put in the effort to attend this would be a non-issue, so that's the real problem.
And that's ignoring the fact that culture plays a huge factor in success of different races in different things. For example, black American culture has a huge emphasis on sports and it shows in their standings in top athletics competitions.

Also Indians, Jews, Asians, Irish, Italian whites all were oppressed until a few decades ago. Yet they are all hyper successful now. Nigerians are one of the most successful immigrants. 880,000+ black millionaires and half a dozen black billionaires. Microsoft, IBM, Google, Adobe, Nokia, Harman, MasterCard and PepsiCo etc all have Indian (minority) CEOs. More than 21% of the doctors in the US are Indians. Indian Americans household income average USD 120,000 annually.
Blacks are HIGHLY successful in sports whereas asians, Indians and whites aren't. Why's that?
The main reason why Nigerian, Indian, Asian etc do so much better than the white American or black American isn't because of "racism". It's because of the policies in the cities.
Chicago has been fully one party ruled since 1931. Baltimore since 1963, Detroit since 1962 etc and so on. Why exactly has none of the lives improved in these cities?
13 Baltimore City High Schools, Zero Students Proficient in Math. Baltimore is 2nd in per pupil spending. This is not because the schools dont get enough money. In fact its just about as far away from that as you can get. If despite getting the 2nd more funded, the students still can't do high school math, then the problem isn't about money or racism or past inequities, it's probably about corruption, gangs, fatherlessness, teacher unions and lack of school choice.

It would be one thing if we were talking about providing opportunities and resources to poor people - poor white farmer, poor black farmer, poor asian farmer etc. But instead of focussing on class lines, we are going with race lines.
The establishment realized that the best way to prevent people from looking at the real enemy (elite establishment) was to keep them infighting and the best way to do that is to divide people into as many oppressor oppressed buckets as possible and let them fight each other.
So now we have people not just fighting about rich vs poor, now it's based on race, sex, sexual preference, ethnicity etc. While we keep fighting each other, the corporations and establishment elites keep getting richer and more powerful, meanwhile our lives keep getting more and more miserable.
This identity politics is also used by corporations and politicians to prevent and deflect blame. You want your $2000 you were promised? You want the $15 minimum wage or medicare for all you were promised? You want to stop forever wars or want to hold Wall Street accountable? You want businesses to open up and stop covid fear mongering? You want a better infrastructure bill or stop oil pipelines?
You are a sexist for speaking against the first female treasury secretary (paid off by Wall Street and $800G by Robinhood hedge fund), racist for speaking against the first black secretary of defence (Raytheon board seat), first trans health minister (took out her own mother while forcing covid patients into nursing homes), inciting violence against AOC for "force the vote", poor uneducated deplorable for wanting $15 minimum wage, racist for speaking against the first Native American interior secretary, "attacking science" for criticizing Fauci, "not black" if you don't vote for Biden, antisemitic if you criticize Israel or islamaphobic if you criticze Palestine. Oh and Russia!!!
Put all the minority pawns in powerful positions and then exploit them for any criticism that comes your way while you do evil things. It's an evil yet genius plan to use identity politics and people are too afraid to speak up or too blind to see through it.
