Ayahuasca users report psychological benefits after taking placebo

How the duck do they give placebo without their knowledge?

Do they fill the room with (real) pink elephants and spinning, spirally patterns and (real) talking animals, so that people think they hallucinate?

I do recognize placebo effects exists, but this just sounds off?
