Does DoorDash jack up prices even if your on a subscription?

I noticed the prices of items are higher than when I go to the merchants website.

Isn't it like double billing if your charging me for a monthly subscription and jacking of merchant prices?

I noticed this too. Other day the restaurant slipped me a QR code in my bag to just go direct through them and save money. I checked and it's about $1+ for each item on DD versus the restaurant.

DoorDash sets their own prices irrespective of restaurant pricing (not just say a flat rate % increase across all items). Maybe a restaurant that works with DoorDash can control but more often than not, the two differ.

To be fair, this is not just a DoorDash thing. Most food delivery apps do this. GrubHub seems to be the cheapest near me right now, besides ordering directly.

I try to order my pickup orders directly over the phone. The apps take a serious cut from the restaurants... most of which are probably already struggling right now to begin with.

Yes. IIRC some merchants might also do this to compensate for the fees DoorDash charges them.

Especially for pick up, I try to order direct with the restaurant to save them on fees. Their margins are slim enough already.

Yeah Uber adds 1-2$ per item as well they hide half the fees that way. If you aren’t getting 50% off you are paying more than you would picking up yourself
