Poll: How Old Are You?

What the heck. 13-18 and 18-25. 25-35 and 35-45. 35-45 and 45-60. Those who are 18, 35, 45 or 60 years old cannot participate in this poll as the options are ambiguous.

Doesn't matter, 24 is the highest number anyway.

I interpret 18-25, and 25-35 as [18, 25), and [25, 35). So a 25yo would pick the second range

I'm 35 and went with the 25-35 bracket. Makes me feel younger. Guess I could also upvote the other one...

The way I read this is; 13 to 18 (18 not including), 18 to 25, etc..

I'm at the edge, I voted both.

Nothing quite as fun as slowly de-anonymizing one's HN account over time :)

I've considered using a public HN account as so many do, but looking over my comment history, I write too many dumb comments. This is despite not even intentionally shiteposting as I do on most sites.

> de-anonymizing one's HN account over time

Is this the case though? Pretty sure the votes are private, and probably only visible to the the few mods of HN.

This is my garbage account where I post stupid embarrassing things. For real stuff I use another one. I’d hope this is typical but I’m afraid lots of people are leaving long trails linked directly to their real identity.

44, and just got my first job as a software engineer! (I've been programming since circa 2004, tho.)

Respectfully, these age categories are quite wide. There’s a staggering amount of life that occurs in some of them.

Hey, we're not so many in the 45-60 range. Are we already dead ?

Nah, we probably are more wary about answering this type of poll. Them young'uns just give all their private data to anyone who asks, not so those of us who have been around a bit longer.

The funny thing is you basically just revealed the same info in text form. Unless you’re actually 27 and this was all an elaborate misdirection. Blink twice if you’re 27.

/me doesn't blink

Are poll choices jumbled up on purpose? This is one where it makes sense to keep an order.

I wonder whether there is a HN algorithm involved in the order; I've seen this happen to other polls, and genuinely interested in understanding what happens to the ordering.

It's randomized. Refresh the page and get a different order.

I voted, but it didn't change the count.

How old would you like?

That's how old I used to be.

Yes there is a bug in this poll.
