Ask HN: Article arguing Platform Layers are more important than Network Effects

Hi HN,

A few months ago I read a great article explaning why controlling the underlying platform is arguably more important than network effects.

They had an example like this, explaning that Facebook does not have their own base layer: iPhone (Apple) -> App store (Apple) -> Facebook (Meta)

I can't find it now in my bookmarks. :(

Any ideas?
