Broadcom in Talks to Acquire VMware

This will be interesting. Broadcom is run like more a hedge fund (the BU makes a profit or we exit) and the CEO is super hands-on, even reviewing comp packages for most new hires. He also was super big on "come into the office or else" even during high covid periods. I know teams that were told to come in but for local compliance reasons you'd basically be alone in an aisle, so you'd rotate through the team - everyone else was at home. But you were taking calls while physically sitting in the office which checked some box in the guy's head.

Not sure about this deal happening, but in the same space I feel like Nutanix is ripe for an acquisition— maybe even by Microsoft (or IBM who had a HW partnership with them at one point).

Hyper-V doesn’t really get used too much outside of the small enterprise, and Nutanix might give them the opportunity to branch out and really compete with VMware or even Cisco UCS with hyper-converged infrastructure etc.

Or VMware acquiring Nutanix I could also see.

I hope it doesn't happen. I just accepted an offer from VMware and considering Broadcom's history, I would be the first on the hook :(

I'm still not clear on what their plans are for CA Technologies and Symantec. VMWare would be similarly baffling to me.

Any idea what these acquisitions are building towards?
