I think Pulumi is starting to realize that this path ends up with a lot of day 2 issues that are not solvable when you wrap config in code. Hence why they are exposing yaml and have a tutorial on CUE now.

Making you config programmable is not the right path forward

I still think that CUE/other configuration languages are too complex for most developers. Once you're adding language-like features (inheritance, schema validation, or control flow), you're better off using a general purpose language like Typescript.

Pulumi might be moving away from pure Typescript constructs because it's difficult to compete against something like AWS CDK, which will always be better because (1) it's specific to one provider and (2) is a first-class citizen.

You have a lot of questionable devops ideas on the blog that are out of touch with what the (dev)ops field has learned. The points made here show you don't have enough context about the things you say need to change or are not good solutions.
