A much better idea is the terrascope, using Earth's upper atmosphere as a refracting lens. This wouldn't require a multi-decade mission, nor a huge sunshield.
Earths atmosphere and weather affects this sort of telescope IIRC and will filter out some lightwaves but seems like a much easier win
