In fact, Taiwan (proxy) will fight, not USA. The United States is trying to do for its other rival what it did in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Exactly, not just Taiwan, they'll also use South Korea and Japan

Just recently they moved their US base to Okinawa, Japan, despite locals against it, for some reason their government pushed it after Abe got assassinated

They even ignored the result of a referendum

Hopefully locals keep push against the War that the US desperately want to ignite but not fight..

Yes, we can see the same situation between Greece and Turkey. As you know, there are also problems between the United States and Turkey. With the recent agreements, F-35 and the bases opened in Greece, the same policy can be applied against Turkey.

Their bases have always been in Okinawa. They are moving a base from one part of the island to another.

US bases already take up a decent chunk of the Island: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:US_military_bases_in...

Lovely, it's all accepted, a sovereign country full of military bases from a foreign country, nobody should question that, ever

You can question it all you. The parent poster was claiming they were moving a base to Okinawa.

If china and the United States ceased trading, more people would die than in any war since world War 2. Kinetic wars are most likely a thing of the past. The next world war won’t look like the last one.

If it's not kinetic, what will they die from? How will that work?

I think the idea is "The war would be so bad that surely they won't have a regular war. So they'll do something different."

Lack of medicine for the US and food for China. Or China’s trading partners.

China isn't ready to meet up with tens of thousands of the newer US 12-inch torpedos (CRAW - compact rapid attack weapon) either. The Franz Ferdinand line was funny, though. We've just seen a demonstration, in the Ukraine, that defense is now extremely strong compared to attack - maybe more so than even in WWI. Small is beautiful and ever-cheaper AI has everything to do with that.

Hopefully it means US won’t start it?
