Ask HN: WordPress plugin development for side income?

1 pointadsal921 comment

I'm currently pursuing my PhD due to which I can't take up a full time job. However, I do have 5+ years of experience working as a developer prior to this. I was wondering if I can generate some side income by developing Wordpress plugins but I am not sure if there is still market for it.

Do share if you have other ideas through which I can earn.

There's still a huge market. I've done this for years with varying success. It's just a lot of work so might interfere with your full-time commitment to your PHD, and it's really all about marketing more than development. So be prepared for that. It's a lot of fun, tho.
