Stripe Takes Steps to Prune Workforce

My friends at Stripe are calling it a shadow layoff.

> In late June, as a last-minute addition to its midyear performance reviews, Stripe managers in departments ranging from engineering to marketing were asked to rate their employees on whether they would rehire them. The multiple-choice answers ranged from phrases like “yes, they’re among the best I’ve ever worked with” to “probably wouldn’t rehire” and “definitely wouldn’t rehire.”

That question alone is a red flag. Forbes claims to have interviewed 10+ folks; it mirrors the word on the street. Stripe overhired and now they need to downsize.

what a content-free article. 10000 words to say 'company has performance reviews'.
