Hipster offended after mistaking himself for hipster (2019)

All I can say is I am incredibly amused by this.

There are only a small number of cool/interesting ways to be not mainstream. Not X is not 'a thing' though it's 'not a thing'. Find your own blend of uniqueness based on positive motivations rather than bland 'anti'.

I also really disliked how Go was billed as 'not Java' and in some ways is now catching up.

Or maybe a better example is 'alternative' music, I liked kinds of it rather than the mainstream. Then it became the 'alternative' genre in itself. If you like grunge, etc you can use those rather than defining it based on the opposite of something.

Depends in my experience people see still mad at you for being unique and can't handle a single thing. But that's my own experience and those people are different from Ycombinator.

People are over here are really great, unique and nice. This is the best website for me. There's nothing else I can think off.

This is hilarious either way, but I'm thinking that the guy who was "offended" by his picture being posted might have submitted the complaint for the sake of humor, with the hopes that it would further enforce the point of the article in question
