The long tail of the internet promised diversity; instead we got sameness

I think an important post-smartphone skill is the ability to move a search bubble around, to convince the algorithm to (however slowly) come along on a flânerie or dérive of sorts.

Is there a word for this activity?

PS. for anyone yet unaware: https://search.marginalia.nu

"...promised Diversity, instead we got Homogeneity"

Many such cases!
