Amazon Kindle Fire: More Profitable Than Expected?

It seems like a lot of these are going to families as a 'second tablet'.
The article lists that as one of its main uses in the real work, but it seems like it would be a dramatically worse experience than either paper or the e-Ink kindles that came before the fire.
People don't seem to "get" it. The Fire/Tablet is more expensive, and so, must be the "best". If all you want to do is read, the LCD devices are actually worse in both readability and battery life. But I don't see either manufacturer doing a great job at explaining that.
I suppose app and streaming video revenue will grow over time.
