By humane qualities I mean
- Respecting the law and no lobbying.
- Provide great services and products
- Customer focused
- Data Privacy
- Treating employees well
- Contribute to social good.
- etc.
Don’t fall for the trap that some small scrappy startup whose founder promises great contributions to the world will do that.
That being said, most companies in general do most of those.
You can have a startup that claims to be trying to save the world, but a closer look at their actual business model can reveal them to be more akin to middleman profiteers that don't actually provide any net negative to anybody, but are just good at extracting tax dollars or have connections to capitalize on some craze that will quickly vanish.
Basically, don't take flowery claims at face value, but use your own brain to figure out what their business model actually delivers for the world.
The larger and more profitable a company grows the more leadership is selected based on maximising shareholder value and this is generally when all the malalignment happens.
There's no massive team, no investors looking for growth at any cost, just me, running a sustainable business.
