Alien motherships: Pentagon official floats a theory for unexplained sightings

NASA tracks debris floating around in Earth orbit. If there were objects entering and leaving orbit they would have been observed.
It is possible all the UFO noise in recent years is the emerging stage of a mass hysteria.
However, I'm skeptical of there being any intelligent life out there that we could feasibly communicate with on any useful timescale anyways, so I don't necessarily disagree with you. I just don't think this argument is inherently sufficient.
If they are that advanced, would they care about stealth or strategy?
This is also assuming they would even have the same values as us. We send probes and signals out, clearly we want to make contact, so they may see no problem with not using stealth, especially if it saves resources for them by being a little more obvious but still avoiding contact.
That's a fair bit of time for the possibility of some other life within our galaxy to detect atmospheric signs of life supporting chemicals on our planet and to send a probe to investigate.
I don't think it means aliens have visited or sent a probe but I think it is possible.
Ha'tak class Goa'uld spacecraft have been entering and leaving orbit since the 90s and NASA hasn't said a word.
Deep state, indeed.
We're either truly alone, effectively alone (any other civilizations are so far away signs of their activity haven't reached us yet), or by a stroke of luck we are the very first highly intelligent species in the universe.
There is a fourth option that also requires a stroke of luck, which is that there are in fact grabby aliens, that haven't reached our neighborhood yet. They may be traveling out in every direction at near c, and won't be detected until very shortly before arrival.
There are other options I think are possible but those are more speculative and exotic.
We have two separate problems:
1) We are seeing a lot more things that we can’t identify (reasonable thing to believe to be true in 2023).
2) We aren’t being serious enough about identifying the humans that make and control them because “lol aliens man”
The public, maybe. People with the resources and access to investigate this stuff, I would bet money they're putting a whole lot more resources into "let's figure out who's building & operating these" than "find the little green men".
Further complicating matters, any messaging in the area of unidentified aircraft is highly likely to be psyops of one form or another. You can't really trust any of it until we're years and years out and have a better idea of what was actually going on. Including things like whether any of this stuff is actually unidentified, for those with better access to information. UFO stuff's so tied up with aerospace tech development and spying that there often is a "conspiracy" going on, it just has nothing to do with aliens.
But why do you think that a mothership would equate to an invasion? And even then, why would we try to fight something that can sterilize the planet from afar and could have done so long ago?
On your other points: you could look into radiance technologies, their hires and funding. Maybe read the UAP part in the NDAA for this year, and tune into the congressional hearing next week with the AARO director mentioned in the article. I don't mean this is the evidence you are looking for, but it is still all very intriguing.
Having some experience with this topic, it is interesting to watch. I feel that things are even more complicated than anyone imagines. I think our ignorance is by design and has some good reasons.
This, because almost the only know social paradigm related to aliens is mainly related to "alien conquerors". But there are LOTs of possibilities about what an alien life form or probes could be doing around and/or on Earth.
The possibilities are endless, they could be doing research, they could be interested in other stuff in the solar system (a handy orbital outpost near Jupiter to monitor, supervise, re-orient high speed vessels, without reaching the inner solar system?), maybe they're looking for ancient aliens who were detected 3 million of years ago (instead they've found us, not sure what to do about the talking meat-bags), maybe our understanding of the universe is still way below the standard required to really understand them (just like octopuses and dolphins are highly intelligent but don't know how build microchips or space ships), you name it, it is possible.
Also, all the conspiracy theories are feasible too, because we've already "de-debunked" enought conspiracy theories in the last 50 years which ended being real, that we should really think about those "unthinkable" crazy hypothesis all around Internet and way before Internet.
Sincerely,
The Pentagon
When serious UFO researchers look at the presented evidence, the U in FO is in almost all cases replaced by things like planes, weather balloons, venus, meterorites, light reflections, dirt on camera lens etc. etc. It is a multi-disciplinary effort to debunk those things and whatever a pilot is reporting to have seen, means very very little.
So another nothing burger.
Which begs the question: Who benefits from reporting like this? (other than it being politico click bait?)
Interviews like these [1] add fuel to the alien origin theories. My hope is that this will start opening up proper academic research funding for UAP before this all escalates into false flag conspiracy theories and one world government hysteria. Otherwise, the next presidential election cycle in the USA is likely to go completely off the rails like it started to with QAnon nonsense.
Feels like we're entering a similar environment to the late 1930's where stunts like Orson Welles' War of the Worlds radio broadcast can easily spark mass hysteria.
You could send a relatively small probe to the Oort cloud, look briefly for a comet falling to Sun's gravity well, a plug it with hardware, then the thing would approach Earth as stealthy as some giant alien starship can get, you look at it, just seing some, another giant comet just doing its usual business around the system. No fuss.
