The Practicality of Decentralized Identifiers

The closest things I've seen to key management for the masses are google and apple's webauthn passkeys which are (surprise!) still access controlled through traditional password (+2fa?) logins.

Is anyone else working on key management in a way that could actually be used by non-tech people?
