Show HN: CS Weapons – Counter-Strike weapon simulator

Two years ago I shared my personal project CS Weapons here on Hacker News. I was blown away by your response, staying on the front page for almost a full day and peaking at #2. I was so grateful for all the valuable feedback and support ♥

With the advent of Counter-Strike 2 approaching and the upcoming major tournament in Paris next week, I thought it would be a good time for a relaunch; I'd love to show you how things progressed with its development and the implementation of some of your suggestions.

CS Weapons is a weapon simulator for CS:GO & CS2, written in JavaScript. It aims to provide valuable comparisons through the analysis of weapon data; it includes powerful features like animated recoil patterns with compensation guides, reactive data-driven charts and a native app experience on mobile.

Calculations are performed live in the browser and are scenario dependent, dynamically updating based on which part of the body was hit, your range from the target and much more.

New features & notable changes:

- Fully dynamic weapon inaccuracy. This is computed in real-time depending on the number of shots fired, the interval between them and your firing position.

- Recoil patterns are now provided along with compensation guides. The animation speed matches the weapons rate of fire, so learning to follow the yellow path for a given weapon will effectively allow you to fully compensate in-game!

- A redesigned comparison interface.

- Settings to tailor your experience, like altering the units of measurement displayed for distances.

- Shot interval modifier. See what the optimum tapping speed is for a weapon by increasing the interval between shots to balance inaccuracy and DPS.

- Firing duration modifier. You can now simulate the amount of shots fired for each weapon rather than setting it directly. This is invaluable for comparing weapons with varied RPM.

- Position modifier. Alter your firing position to see how weapon inaccuracy is impacted. Find out what weapons are best to run and jump with!

Aside from that, under the hood I've also been fixing bugs, adding a new simpler payment flow and improving the site's performance on search engines.

CS Weapons has been a labour of love for me and I hope you feel that in your user experience. Thank you for your time and support.
